Sherman 'Easy Eight'

Well I've taken a bit of a break from Warhammer 40k, and have gone back to my old childhood past time of Airfix models and the like. I used to do them all the time as a young boy and recently found myself staring at all the shiny new kits in the local model shop. It's been many years since I attempted a WW2 tank, but I felt confident that my skills have improved and that I could do a decent job.

This is an Academy kit of the 'Easy Eight' version of the Sherman. From my understanding it was a little known tank with heavier armour and a bigger gun I believe, I may be wrong though. Once built I sprayed the whole thing with Vallejo's 'Yellow Olive'....or 'Olive Yellow'.......can't remember which way round! Anywho, I then gave it some subtle shading and started with some details. It's just occured to me though that I've started the weathering and haven't applied the transfers yet! That shall be rectified soon, until then here's some pictures of the tank so far.....

I have gone a bit overboard with the dustiness, but then again you can just imagine that the tank has smashed it's way through an old french barn or house or something!

I'm really pleased with how it's going, although I have been a bit impatient and started the weathering before full finishing the details. I'll work on that with my next project, an British M3

Poster restoration

Well before christmas I recieved my copy of 'Catechism of Hate' from Black Library, the £30 limited edition one......and I regretted it. Mainly because of the awesome poster that came with it. The artwork is fantastic, however........they stupidly folded the poster. Who folds a poster?! So needless to say, it was ruined with severe crease marks. So I left it under 4 heavy books for the past month or so to completely flatten it, and now I've started to restore it.....

It's looking a lot better and once it's done I will frame it, because it's just a great piece of artwork. I did post this same picture on Black Librarys Facebook page.....and surprise surprise they deleted it! Hey ho, until next time.

Imperial Guard Colossus/Bombard

Well this is my new Bombard/Colossus. It's a great kit and adds a great feel to a Guard Army. It was a joy to paint and my favourite feature has to be the crane on the back, it just makes it look like a powerful engine of war.

More photos can be found here

And you can see the progress of the whole army in this thread
